Bank Shooting in Louisville Leaves Five Dead, Nine Injured

(MENAFN) A tragic shooting occurred on Monday morning inside a branch of Old National Bank in Louisville, Kentucky. The shooter, identified as 25-year-old Connor Sturgeon, was a bank employee who was armed with a semi-automatic AR-15-style weapon. According to police, Sturgeon livestreamed the shooting, which killed five people and injured nine others.

As Louisville Metro Police released audio of the 911 calls made following the mass shooting, an injured bank employee spoke to CBS News about her harrowing experience. Dana Mitchell, who worked at the bank, knew the gunman and is recovering after being shot in the back. She described how the bullet went in and out just below the surface and left a 10-inch-long wound that didn't hit anything important.

Mitchell expressed shock that her co-worker, whom she mentored in his first year at the bank, could carry out such a horrific attack. She said that Sturgeon was very kind and soft-spoken, and she never thought he would do something like this. Mitchell recalled seeing him enter the bank with a gun and begin shooting.

The shooter was killed during an exchange of gunfire with responding officers, according to police. This tragic incident has once again raised concerns about gun violence in the United States and the need for stricter gun control measures. The impact of this shooting on the families of the victims and the community as a whole is immeasurable, and it serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of gun violence.
