PM, EBRD President Highlight Partnership


(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN - Prime Minister Bisher Al Khasawneh on Tuesday met with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Odile Renaud-Basso.

Highlighting the partnerships between Jordan and the EBRD, Khasawneh emphasised that the bank is a crucial supporter of Jordan in both the public and private sectors.

The prime minister praised the bank's support for the Kingdom in various aspects, referring to the signing of a grant agreement worth 30 million euros on Tuesday at the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation to support the construction of a water treatment plant in the Ghabawi region.

The prime minister also stressed the importance of the EBRD president's visit to Jordan to strengthen cooperation with the bank, and to learn about investment environment in the Kingdom.

He expressed Jordan's aspiration for further investments from the bank in several vital areas.

The prime minister also mentioned the government's intention to issue a new law for public-private partnerships to reduce the obstacles posed by the current law to the implementation of many development and service projects.

The EBRD president expressed the bank's desire to expand its activities and investments in the Kingdom. She affirmed the bank's interest in numerous projects that Jordan intends to implement, especially in the fields of clean energy, water and green economy.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Touqan.
