Malaysian Foreign Minister Praises Iran-Saudi Arabia Diplomatic Deal


(MENAFN) Malaysian Foreign Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir has lauded the recent agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia to restore diplomatic ties. In a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, Abdul Kadir commended the deal, stating that it will help promote peace and stability in West Asia.

Abdul Kadir also expressed hope for further expansion of relations between Iran and Malaysia, describing Iran as an important trade partner. The two foreign ministers also reviewed developments in Afghanistan and Ukraine.

The positive developments in Iran-Saudi Arabia relations have been noted by other countries in the region as well. UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed spoke with Amir Abdollahian on March 21, congratulating Iran on the New Year and the holy month of Ramadan, and inviting the Iranian foreign minister to visit Abu Dhabi.

Bin Zayed expressed hope that the new movement in relations between Tehran and Riyadh will have a positive impact on the region, and also expressed hope for increased ties between Damascus and Abu Dhabi to promote stability and security in the region.

In response, Amir Abdollahian noted the increasing political, economic, and trade ties between Iran and the UAE, and mentioned the constructive dialogue between Iranian and UAE security and economic officials. He expressed readiness to host a joint session between Iranian and UAE businesspersons.

Amir Abdollahian also expressed joy over the trend of increasing ties between the UAE and Syria, highlighting the potential for collaboration between Muslim countries to promote mutual interests and increase stability in the region.

As countries in the region work to strengthen diplomatic ties and promote peace and stability, it is crucial that all parties remain committed to peaceful resolution and dialogue.
