Russia claims US collaborating with terrorists in Syria

(MENAFN) According to Sergey Naryshkin, the head of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), the United States is still collaborating with terrorist groups, including the Islamic State (IS), to carry out attacks against government forces in Syria. In a report released on Monday by the SVR, it was claimed that the United States military's Al-Tanf base in southern Syria is coordinating subversive activities, with representatives of the Central Command of the United States Armed Forces and United States intelligence officers planning the actions of terrorist groups.

The report further elaborated that the so-called Free Syrian Army, which comprises Kurdish and Arab detachments operating in central and northeast Syria, has been assigned a special role in this collaboration. The Americans and their British allies are allegedly working with the underground formations of IS that still remain in remote areas of the country through them. These findings raise serious concerns about the United States's alleged involvement with terrorist groups in Syria and the potential ramifications of such actions on the region's stability.
