Doha: Partnerships with local entities play a vital role in contributing to Education Above All (EAA) Foundation's mission to support access to quality education for most marginalised children and youth.

Public and corporate companies in Qatar are“most charitable,” said Director of Partnerships at EAA Foundation, Parintaj Sulaiman.

“Partnerships as a whole are the way we work; we have major local and international partners. The local partners are very important. Public of Qatar has always been the most charitable. This is something as a benchmark, benchmark across the world in corporate giving,” she said, speaking on the sidelines of a press conference held recently.

Sulaiman said that average amount of donation given in Qatar is much higher compared to other parts of the world.

“An average donation by any person in other countries is between $10-20 across the board, but in Qatar it ranges much higher,” she said.

Qatar's corporate companies also play a major role in creating awareness about the work done by EAA Foundation and the need to provide quality primary education to millions of schoolchildren who otherwise would not have access.

“It's not only the funding support but the awareness the corporate companies create. For example the video of us (EAA's Educate a Child programme) is seen by millions of people. There is no other way we could have reached out to that large number of people,” said Sulaiman.

Retailers in Qatar are also valued and supportive partners of the EAA Foundation. Retailers have been supportive partners of all EAA campaigns by facilitating donations by customers at their checkouts.

The vendor network contributes funds to EAA through the sale of items and providing ample visibility to promote EAA at all vantage points of the stores.

“Every time you walk into hypermarket outlets such as LuLu, Carrefour and Mega Mart you are made aware over and over of the large scale of what we do,” said Sulaiman.

The funds allocated to some Educate A Child projects are supporting the commitment to ensure that millions of the most marginalised and hardest-to-reach out-of-school children can enrol in quality primary education.

EAA Foundation seeks to transform the lives of millions of marginalised children and young people through education. To implement this, EAA has built a borderless network of local and regional partners, including international aid agencies, schools, volunteers, global businesses, specialised funds, development banks, and community ambassadors and leaders.

“It's not that we are part of the Qatar's fabric, but we are also part of the international community. Millions of children are accessing quality education because of EAA Foundation. When we talk of education it's about five years of primary education; they learn to read, write and develop language skills,” said Sulaiman.
