TotalEnergies Qatar and University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) recently partnered to promote cooperation between the two organizations.

The agreement, which was signed by Matthieu Bouyer, Country Chair of TotalEnergies Qatar and Managing Director of TotalEnergies EP Qatar, and Dr. Salem Al Naemi, President of UDST, sets a precedent for more collaboration between UDST and TotalEnergies Qatar, to enrich Qatar's knowledge-based economy.

Bridging the Gap between Industry and Academia in Qatar's Energy Sector

The agreement provides a framework for several projects between the two organizations such as work placements for UDST students and academic staff, and potential opportunities for applied research.

Furthermore, TotalEnergies, a global energy industry leader, can serve as a mentor and resource to students by providing practical applications from areas such as exploration and production, refining and petrochemicals, lubricants and renewable energy, and research and innovation, all of which the Company is actively involved in Qatar.

The collaboration with UDST is an important step in efforts to enrich the local workforce that will contribute to the fast-growing energy sector of Qatar. TotalEnergies Qatar will benefit from having access to UDST's talented pool of graduates and will also help shape the next generation of business professionals. UDST, in turn, will benefit from TotalEnergies' industry expertise and knowledge, therefore bridging the gap between theory and practice.

“TotalEnergies Qatar is committed to fostering industry-academia partnerships that can be applied across all sectors, while also ensuring that we are meeting the needs of our stakeholders, including universities.

This collaboration with UDST serves a dual purpose: it allows the students to access TotalEnergies Qatar's skilled workforce, and leverages our TAMKEEN program which supports the development of Qatari talent.

As another component of this partnership, UDST will expand its student participation to the Al Reyada development program* , thus bringing together academics and business professionals to address energy-related topics. This program is part of TotalEnergies' TAMKEEN broader initiative, which aims to develop local talent and human capacity through education, training, and development.
