Qatar Attends Technical Council Meeting Of GSO

Riyadh: The State of Qatar participated yesterday in the 54th meeting of the Technical Council of the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the presence of Their Excellencies heads and representatives of national standardization bodies in member states.

Chairperson of the Qatar General Authority for Standardization and Metrology Eng. Mohammed bin Saud Mohammed Al Musallam headed the State of Qatar's delegation to the meeting.

The meeting discussed a range of vital topics included in the agenda, particularly reviewing the memorandum of the GSO presidency regarding the adoption of draft standards and Gulf technical regulations and their amendments. Also, it discussed the outputs of the Gulf technical committees for standards and reviewed the GCC General Secretariat's letter on the international system for the classification of chemicals (GHS). The meeting touched on the outputs of the 36th metrology steering committee meeting.

Furthermore, the meeting reviewed the memorandum of the GSO presidency on launching an online platform of 'Aajel System' for the exchange of information and reports on product safety and withdrawal procedures, in addition to discussing another memorandum on studying the development of a platform to automate the procedures for applying unified Gulf standards.

The meeting discussed the developments of implementing the GSO strategic plan and came out with a set of recommendations supporting joint Gulf action in the various fields of standardization.
