Qatar Set To Celebrate Education Excellence Day

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar will honour its distinguished students and institutions Wednesday as it celebrates the 16th edition of the Education Excellence Award which will be held under the patronage of His Highness the Amir sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
Under the slogan 'With Excellence We Build Generations', 64 award winners will be honoured this year, out of 199 applicants who submitted their nominations.
The Excellence Award covers eight categories: Education Excellence Award for primary school students which was won by 21 students, Education Excellence Award for preparatory school students which was won by eight students, Education Excellence Award for secondary school students which was won by four students, the distinguished teacher award which was won by two teachers, and the Education Excellence Award for university graduates which was won by 24 university students, Education Excellence Award for holders of a master's degree that was won by two students, Education Excellence Award for PhD holders which was won by two PhD holders; Education Excellence Award for distinguished scientific research for the secondary stage which was won by a student.
The Education Excellence Day Award is an occasion to honour the scientifically distinguished people of Qatar in various fields in order to spread the culture of creativity and excellence in the Qatari society, to motivate students for more excellence and outstanding academic achievement, to create integration between individual and institutional efforts to improve the outcomes of the educational process, and to bring it to international levels and standards.
The award promotes the spirit of innovation among students, researchers and educational institutions, motivates the spirit of competition between individuals and educational institutions in scientific excellence, and directs individual and institutional energies towards scientific excellence in fields that serve the country's developmental purposes.
Since the launch of the Education Excellence Award until the 15th edition, 872 individuals and institutions have been honoured in various categories.
Ali Abdullah al-Buainain, CEO of the Education Excellence Award and Assistant Undersecretary for Shared Services Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, had said that Qatar attached great importance to scientific excellence and to distinguished students in various scientific and research fields and disciplines, stressing that this approach aimed at spreading the culture of creativity and excellence in the Qatari society, based on the belief that the advancement of countries comes through distinguished scientific giving that produces creative ideas to take the country to the ranks of developed countries.
Since its launch, the Education Excellence Award has become an educational and developmental legacy that reflects a lofty vision, message, goals and objectives, stemming from care for the human element, especially scientifically distinguished students at all levels and representing Qatar human capital's role in achieving its national vision.
To document this pioneering march, the Ministry of Education inaugurated on Sunday the Education Excellence Day Award documentary exhibition at Katara Cultural Village which will run until tomorrow.
The exhibition introduces the award's criteria and how to apply for it, and also highlights the award's history, including the number of honorees, their photos, and the medals and certificates they received. The exhibition includes a number of pavilions related to the award march.
A number of educational experts stressed the contribution of the Education Excellence Award in promoting the spirit of excellence, creativity and innovation among the educational community in Qatar because of its international standards of excellence and quality programmes, that have contributed to improving the outcomes of the educational process which confirms that real and optimal investment is the investment in people to build a generation of young people qualified to deal with the developments of the times.
This is indicated by the Qatar National Vision 2030 in its first pillar related to human development, and emphasised by HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina bint Ali al-Jabr al-Nuaimi in her speech during the 15th edition of the award when she highlighted that Qatar relies on its scientifically distinguished youth who are entrusted with protecting its gains achieved at all levels, especially after they are armed with knowledge, skills, and tools of creativity and innovation.
This opens new horizons for human and sustainable development in Qatar and prepares it to compete in a rapidly changing world based on excellence, innovation and knowledge.
The winners of the 2023 Education Excellence Day Award are given medals and financial rewards.
The outstanding primary school student in the platinum medal category receives a financial reward of QR15,000, a medal and a certificate of excellence. As for the distinguished students in the gold medal category, they are awarded QR10,000, a medal and a certificate of excellence.
The outstanding student in the preparatory stage is awarded in the platinum medal category with QR20,000, a medal, and a certificate of excellence, while the distinguished student in the gold medal category is awarded QR15,000, a medal, and a certificate of excellence. The outstanding high school student in the platinum medal category is awarded a medal, a certificate of excellence, and QR35,000, while the distinguished student in the gold medal category is awarded a gold medal, a certificate of excellence, and QR25,000. The student for the best research among secondary schools is awarded a gold medal and a certificate of excellence, in addition to a financial reward of QR20,000.
As for the distinguished university student, in the platinum medal category, the winner will receive a medal, a certificate of excellence, and QR45,000. The distinguished university student in the gold medal category is awarded a gold medal, a certificate of excellence, and QR35,000.
The distinguished teacher is awarded the platinum medal and certificate of excellence in addition to QR60,000. PhD holders are awarded the platinum medal and certificate of excellence, in addition to a financial reward of QR60,000.
The Distinguished School Award is granted to two distinguished schools, one public and the other private, each with a cash reward of QR100,000, a certificate of excellence and a gold medal. The gold medal is awarded to master's holders along with QR50,000.
