Nearly 1,900 Students Compete In 'Read' Competition

Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education concluded the second phase of the Reading olympiad project, represented by“Read” competition, which was supervised by the Education Affairs Sector represented by the Department of Curricula and learning Resources and the Department of Private schools Affairs.
The schools announced the names of the students who achieved the highest standards in the first stage of the internal qualifiers, which were held at the level of each school.
Nearly 1,900 male and female students competed fairly in the“Read” competition, and those who did well enough will be nominated to compete in the“Express” competition in April. Those who meet the highest standards in both competitions will then be eligible to compete in“The Arab Reading Challenge” competition, which is run by the United Arab Emirates.
The Reading Olympiad project aims to promote the habit of reading among our students, which serves the community, its development and advancement, and contributes to the achievement of Qatar Vision 2030, and increases the number of Arab children who read, connects them to reading and expressing short stories, develops a close bond between the student and the school library at a young age, and strengthens his bond with libraries of all kinds throughout his life.
The“Read” competition required the participant to complete a variety of readings, and the student's readings and the degree to which he met the established standards were evaluated.
