Sack of head of governors over tax issues


(MENAFN) Nadhim Zahawi was removed as chairman of the Conservative Party by United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak due to a tax dispute.

Following revelations that Zahawi resolved a multimillion-pound tax dispute with His Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) division while serving as Chancellor of the Exchequer, requests for his resignation were made. Sunak said in a letter on Sunday that he had launched a probe into the MP's "personal financial arrangements and disclosures" after it was made public. Zahawi "undertook to participate completely with the inquiry," he stated.
