Some 24,000 Residential Buildings Affected By War In Kyiv Region Administration Chief

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) As a result of Russian aggression, more than 27,000 infrastructure objects across Kyiv region were either damaged or destroyed.

That's according to Oleksiy kuleba , head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Ukrinform reports.

'More than 27,000 infrastructure facilities have been damaged as a result of bombardments and missile strikes by a terrorist state country. The enemy targeted residential buildings (about 24,000 of them), schools, kindergartens, and health care facilities,' the administration chief said.

In total, 46 out of 69 territorial communities across Kyiv region saw destruction. Fifteen communities of Vyshhorod, Bucha, and Brovary districts in Kyiv region were under Russian occupation.

'Some 270 settlements across the region have experienced the peculiarities of the 'Russian world.' The worst grief of this war is the people who died. In our region, 1,368 residents fell victim to hostilities and missile fire by the invaders. Unfortunately, the toll is not final as missile strikes continue, bringing destruction and deaths. Our law enforcers keep discovering sites where peaceful residents, tortured by the invaders to death, were buried. This is unbearable pain and something that we will never forgive,' said Kuleba.

He emphasized that after the deoccupation of the region, the authorities scrambled to restore communications and critical infrastructure: 'In the shortest possible time, we restored power supply, severed amid hostilities, to 525 settlements, and water supply – to 123.'

Work continues on the restoration of damaged roads and bridges. At the sites of 45 damaged bridge crossings, traffic was restored by mid-summer. In November, a completely repaired major bridge on the Zhytomyr highway near the village of Stoyanka became fully operational.

'The main task we're facing is to reconstruct all objects destroyed by the invaders. By the end of this year, we've fully restored 5,551 objects and 3,460 – partially,' Kuleba added.

Among the fully restored objects are 4,632 apartment blocks and houses, 153 educational facilities, 78 health care facilities, and 41 administrative buildings.

In addition, reconstruction is underway at 1,075 objects.

As reported, Kyiv region was one of the first areas to be targeted by Russian invaders. The hostilities lasted from February 24 to April 3.
