President: South Korea's military is not ready

(MENAFN) President Yoon Suk-yeol observed during a cabinet meeting that the South Korean military's preparedness posture and training had been "greatly lacking" as demonstrated by a recent infiltration of North Korean drones.

According to Yonhap, the South Korean leader cautioned ministers on Tuesday that Seoul has to improve its capabilities in the aftermath of the event on Monday. He declared his nation had realized “the danger of a North Korea policy that relied on North Korea’s good intentions and military agreements.”

The military stated on Monday that at least five North Korean drones had been found in various locations around South Korea, including close to Gyodong Island and in the area between Gimpo and Paju. During the reaction, one military light plane was lost. According to local media, the intrusion lasted up to seven hours.

In order to conduct reconnaissance operations against the North, President Yoon pledged to hasten the formation of a drone unit. He promised that it would be advanced "as much as possible".
