'Stone Pelting Ceases To Exist, Youth Want To Lead A Peaceful Life'
Srinagar- Coming down heavily on Pakistan for promoting“terrorism” into Jammu and Kashmir, the Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh said on Friday that the elements responsible for playing a“bloody game” in the Union Territory have been wiped off and those left out will also be neutralised sooner.
“I'm happy that those thorns, which wounded our society, wounded our people have been wiped off from here. We're also taking concrete steps to remove the ones left out,” Singh said, while taking to reporters on the sidelines of a sports event here on Friday.
“And I'm sure it won't take much time to wipe out such elements, which are left out. We have active support of the people in this,” he said, while lauding people for their immense support and cooperation to the police.
Giving more clarity on his thorn analogy, the police chief said that he was hinting towards those elements promoting terrorism from Pakistani soil and playing into the hands of their agencies.
“There was a big money game involved. And due to this money game, youth were instigated for stone pelting, to take up arms. Such elements, whether they were from Jama'at or Hurriyat and were playing bloody game on the directions of Pakistan, have been cleared to a greater extend, hence no stone pelting,” Singh said.
He added that stone pelting has ceased to exist, even in the downtown, where youth want to lead a peaceful life.
Speaking about the cycle race“Pedal for Peace” organised by police, the DGP said that such events encourage children to achieve their goals in different fields and play a very important role in guiding them to stay away from drugs & other paths of destruction.
He said the children and youth have suffered in education and growth in the past and with the large participation of them today it feels that the time has changed now.
“Every pedal you do is changing the scenario of Jammu and Kashmir towards a new milestone of a more peaceful environment,” Singh said, while addressing the cyclists, as per a police spokesperson.
“Whether in uniform or without uniform we are one family and our mission is one that is bright future for our children, safe and secure life for people of all ages,” the DGP said.
Referring to the tourist influx this year, the spokesperson said that the DGP asserted that the beauty and the hospitality of Kashmir is the talk of the world again and he was hopeful that it would continue to be top priority of the tourists in the coming time.
Singh further said that the cooperation and support Jammu and Kashmir Police is getting from the people will help further in consolidating the prevailing peace.
According to the spokesperson, Financial Commission (Additional Chief Secretary) Home Department R K Goyal said that the events of J&K Police always have a special charm and depict the vibrancy of the department.
Goyal, he said, congratulated DGP J&K, ADGP Armed and IGP Traffic for supervising and conducting the event in a befitting manner.
Earlier in his welcome address, the spokesperson said ADGP Armed SJM Gillani said that Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police is organising a number of sports events and that every passing year participation is increasing.
