Taliban: Helmand Boy, Trapped In Well, Dies
A child who fell into a 50-meter-deep well in the Kajaki district of Helmand province, in southern Afghanistan, according to the Taliban security officials, has died.
Enayatullah Khawarazmi, the spokesperson for the Taliban Ministry of Defense, wrote on his Twitter handle that the child who fell to a well in Helmand province, Abdul Ali, has died.
The child, according to sources tumbled into a bore well, 50 meters deep, in the Kajaki district of Helmand province a day before his dead body was pulled up.
After the boy fell in a well in Helmand province, the Taliban Ministry of Defense declared that a rescue team from the ministry was sent with a chopper to Helmand to rescue Abdul Ali.
Children falling into wells have been reported to have happened frequently this year in the southern provinces of Afghanistan.
There have been reports of people falling into wells in the Afghan provinces of Helmand, Zabul, Kandahar, and other areas, with children constituting the majority of the victims.
With the drought that has hit Afghanistan and the tragic incidents of people falling, Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban's acting interior minister, previously told governors and district governors to locate open wells and take the necessary safety precautions.
