Fuel Prices Increased

Fuel prices have been increased with effect from today, both the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and Lanka Indian Oil announced.

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation said that Octane 92 petrol has been increased by Rs. 82 per litre, Octane 95 petrol has been increased by Rs. 77 per litre, Auto Diesel has been increased by Rs. 111 per litre and Super Diesel by Rs. 116.

Accordingly, Octane 92 Petrol will now be sold at Rs. 420 a litre, Octane 95 Petrol Rs. 450, Auto Diesel Rs. 400 and Super Diesel Rs. 445 at fuel stations operated by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.

Lanka Indian Oil said that it has also increased the price of fuel from today.

Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said that a fuel pricing formula that was approved by the Cabinet was applied to revise the prices.

He said the price revision includes all costs incurred in importing, unloading, distribution to the stations and taxes.

The Cabinet also approved the revision of transportation and other service charges accordingly. The formula will be applied every fortnight or monthly. (Colombo Gazette)
