Ranjith Siyambalapitiya decides to remain as Deputy Speaker
Ranjith Siyambalapitiya has decided to remain as Deputy Speaker until the end of this month.
Siyambalapitiya told Parliament today that he will continue to remain in the post under two conditions.
He said that he will not accept any perks offered by Parliament and hopes the current crisis in the country is resolved by the end of this month.
The Deputy Speaker had informed President Gotabaya Rajapaksa about his resignation.
However, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had refused to accept his resignation.
The resignation came after the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) quit the Government and decided to be independent in Parliament. (Colombo Gazette)
