meet Hasu Mia, a Bangladeshi record producer based in Dhaka
(MENAFN- Prothom Alo) Hasanul Banna, better known as Hasu Mia, is an emerging music producer from Dhaka who has been producing beats for the last three years. He has been working with different artists in Bangladesh and is quickly becoming one of the leading electronic music producers in Bangladesh.
Hasu Mia was born on 14th November 1998 in the Barishal district. After staying with his grandmother for a year his parents brought him to Dhaka. Hasu Mia was raised in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. But he also loves his hometown as he said, ''''I love my hometown and I always miss the people over there". Hasu Mia’s dad, Mizanur Rahman Maleque, is a teacher and currently working in a local high school. His mom, Shahanaj Perven, is a librarian and working as Library In Charge at BIU.
Hasu Mia started making beats when he was in college and has been working on his craft ever since. Hasu Mia was a student of Notre Dame College. His first instrument was a Cajon, which developed his beat sense a lot, and eventually found his way to becoming a record producer in the genre of hip hop. Hasu Mia has another instrument that he likes so much, and it''s Ukulele. Hasu Mia has a versatile taste in music. He listens to a lot of songs of different genres. His beats are so much inspired by the legendary J Dilla’s boom-bap vibe. Hasu Mia also produces synth-wave music which is also a big part of his production style. He had no formal education on how to produce beats before he started, but he did have some knowledge of music composition and arrangement.
Hasu Mia used to play Cajon in a band called ‘Grohoshor’ back in 2015 which he left a year later. After leaving the very first band of his life, Hasu Mia teamed up with Araf Abrar, another musician based in Dhaka, and formed a new band called ''Xtrumentalists''. A crucial part of his career is this new band didn''t continue either.
Hasu Mia learned music production totally intuitively. The internet was his teacher at learning music production. Hasu Mia says, “The best way to learn music production is by learning to play an instrument first because that gives you the ability to express the tune from your mind.”
Currently, Hasu Mia isn’t signed under any record label yet. He is a completely independent artist. After publishing his debut single ‘Lost in Space‘ last year, he released an entire album couple of months later called ‘Drunk on Tea’. Hasu Mia said, he has some upcoming releases in 2022 and he is so hopeful and excited about them.
Hasu Mia likes to spend time with his friends when he has some free time from work. He is also known to enjoy watching movies and documentaries. Hasu Mia''s favorite television channel is National Geographic, where he likes to learn about different cultures and countries in the world. Hasu Mia loves adventure and said that someday he wants to travel the whole world, exploring different cultures and learning about them firsthand.
Hasu Mia is currently living with his family in Dhaka, Bangladesh. His goal is to make music that people actually love listening to. He wants to establish his unique sounds in modern Hip-Hop because he knows he has the skills to do so and make a lasting impact on modern music as a whole.
