Qatar celebrates one-year milestone for World Cup
São Paulo – Qatar celebrated this Sunday (21), on the shores of its capital, Doha, one year to the 2022 World Cup. Global media released photos of the event, attended by local authorities and former players such as Marcel Desailly, Peter Schmeichel, David Beckham, Cafu, and the president of the International Football Federation (FIFA), Gianni Infantino.
The celebration was promoted by the local organizing committee and the FIFA committee, and in addition to the guests, it was attended by Qatari football fans. Lights were projected on the Gulf Sea shoreline, there was a drone show, and an hourglass-shaped sculpture with a countdown to the opening was unveiled. A clock was also placed at the ceremony site, the Corniche Fishing Spot.
The World Cup will start on November 21 and run until December 18, 2022. According to information released by the organizers, eight stadiums for the matches are ready.
