Qatar - QNCECS holds JPO training course


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science (QNCECS) held, via video conference, a training course for candidates of the State of Qatar to join the Junior Professional Officers (JPO) Program at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), under the title“International Organizations.”

During the session, Ambassador of Qatar to South Africa H E Tariq Ali Al Ansari delivered a lecture in which he addressed several topics, including the UN main organs, the UN institutions, the UN Charter, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of Unesco and preventive diplomacy.

He also reviewed the Bretton Woods agreement and institutions and the most important results of the agreement. Also, he spoke about the State of Qatar's presidency of the 66th UN General Assembly and the State of Qatar's role in promoting the UN initiative for the Alliance of Civilizations.

The lecture touched on the Unesco objectives, its SDGs, the review of the European Convention on Human Rights, and the expected results and activities with the Unesco office in Doha. The Ambassador said the JPO Program aims to strengthen the UN work and other participating agencies in capacity development, adding that it provides training opportunities in the field of multilateral capacity building for young graduates. He pointed out that the program provides the possibility to participate in UN activities in the field of capacity development.
