UAE suspends flights with Afghanistan due to security situation


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ABU DHABI, Aug 16 (KUNA) -- The UAE suspended on Monday all commercial flights with Afghanistan in light of the recent political turmoil in that country, according to its aviation authority.
The UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) said it was "prioritising the safety and security of civil aviation."
GCAA added it is "closely monitoring the developments in Afghanistan and assessing the current situation, in coordination with relevant authorities and the UAE's national carriers, to ensure the safe operations of the countryآ's airlines." (end)
