Progress in India-aided LKR 275 million project in Batticaloa Teaching Hospital reviewed
(MENAFN- NewsIn.Asia) Colombo, March 16 (newsin.asia): Progress in the construction of a surgical unit in the Teaching Hospital at Batticaloa with aid from India amounting to LKR 275 million was reviewed on Tuesday by a committee chaired by the Indian Deputy High Commissioner Vinod K Jacob.
The meeting was co-chaired by S Janaka Sri Chandraguptha, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine of the Government of Sri Lanka and was conducted by Head of the Development Cooperation Wing of the Indian High Commission, Eldos Mathew Punnoose, First Secretary.
Other participants included representatives from Sri Lankan Ministry of Health, Batticaloa Teaching Hospital, representatives of Malwatte Construction, Contractor of the Project and CECB, Consultant appointed by Government of Sri Lanka for the project.
This project is in continuation of Government of India's people-oriented development cooperation partnership with Government of Sri Lanka. India's overall commitment of development assistance to Sri Lanka stands at a total of around US$ 3.5 billion and among these, US$ 560 million is under grants.
