Qatar- More rain expected on Sunday

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Thundery rain is again expected in the country on Sunday, along with strong winds in some places at times, the weather forecast says, a day after Doha and other parts of the country received rain of varying intensity.

The Qatar Met department has also issued a warning for thundershowers in the early hours of the day offshore, besides windy conditions and high seas.

The wind speed may go up to 25 knots in both inshore and offshore areas on Sunday, with the sea level rising to 8'.

The detailed forecast says moderate temperature is expected during the daytime and cloudy conditions are also likely at times.

There is a chance of rain, which may be thundery in some areas at times, and it will be relatively cold by night.

Cloudy conditions are also expected offshore along a possibility of scattered rain, which may be thundery at first.

The temperature is forecast to range from 17-24C in Doha on Sunday.

The Met department had recently said unsettled weather conditions were expected in the country during the weekend.

Saturday, cloudy conditions and northwesterly winds were reported from different places along with scattered rain, which became thundery at times.

Dusty conditions were also observed in some places.

The department tweeted last night that cold weather was seen across the country with the temperature ranging from 16-20C.

The "apparent temperature" did not exceed 17C due to the influence of northwesterly winds.

'Apparent temperature is the temperature equivalent perceived by humans, caused by the combined effects of air temperature, relative humidity and wind speed, according to information available online.

The weather office also issued safety tips to be followed by motorists in rainy conditions.
