Ukraine, Russia Both Claim Shooting Down Drones

(MENAFN) Ukraine's Armed Forces confirmed on Tuesday that their defense systems successfully intercepted 120 out of 150 Shahed drones launched by Russia during a nighttime assault. Meanwhile, Russia's Ministry of Defense reported the downing of 13 Ukrainian drones in the Rostov region.

According to Ukraine's Air Force, the drones originated from multiple Russian regions, including Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from Chauda in Crimea.

"Air defenses shot down or suppressed 120 enemy UAVs in the north, south, east, and center of the country," the Air Force stated.

Despite these efforts, Ukraine acknowledged that 30 strike UAVs successfully reached their targets, impacting nine locations across the nation. In response, Ukrainian forces deployed aviation, missile units, electronic warfare, and mobile fire groups to counter the assault.

On the Russian side, Russia's Defense Ministry stated that its air defense systems had destroyed 13 Ukrainian drones over the Rostov region during the same period.

These overnight drone attacks come amid escalating tensions in the region, as both Kyiv and Moscow have intensified long-range drone strikes targeting critical infrastructure and military sites.
