New shipping line to be launched between Iran, Syria

(MENAFN) Head of Iran-Syria Joint Chamber of Commerce Keyvan Kashefi announced on Friday that the Iranian government will establish a direct freight line from the southern port city of Bandar Abbas to Syrian port of Latakia on March 10.

Tehran Times daily cited Kashefi as detailing that freight vessels will carry cargo from Iran to Syria one time for each month.

The official added that the cargo service could be offered twice a month in case demand for shipping to Syria grows.
He further included that "There are no restrictions on export items. These ships are both container and bulk carriers, and any trader can choose Syria as the export destination."
