Egypt pres. underlines Libya stability


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Oct 17 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Abdulfattah Al-Sisi said on Saturday that his country's main goal is to bring stability back to Libya through a political track.
Al-Sisi made the remark during a meeting with Spanish Foreign Minister Arancha Gonz?lez Laya, Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radhi said in a press statement.
"The essential goal of the Egyptian State is to restore stability and security in Libya via the political track, the outcomes of Berlin Conference (on Libya) and Cairo Declaration, leading up to elections," Al-Sisi was quoted by the spokesman as saying.
On her part, the Spanish foreign minister touted Egyptian efforts to shore up the status quo in Libya as per a previously unveiled plan, which has positively contributed to putting the situation in Libya under control.
She restated her country's interest in stepping up coordination and consultations with Egypt, which plays a crucial balanced role in maintaining stability in the Middle East and eastern Mediterranean, as well as its fight against terrorism and extremism.
She also spoke highly of Egypt's hosting of, and caring for, a large number of refugees from different countries, something that is highly appreciated by the European Union (EU). (end)
