Cease-fire declared by Libyan eastern-based army

The eastern based army in Libya declared cease-fire on Saturday and ending all the military operations against the government in all western parts of Libya.

The eastern based army released a statement saying that "The General Command of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces declares cease-fire and stop of military operations in the western region, starting from 00:01, Jan. 12, 2020, provided that the other party commits to cease-fire at this time".

The statement adding that "The response will be harsh in case of any breach to this truce".

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, president of Turkey, and the president of Russia Vladimir Putin called on the rival parties in Libya on Wednesday to cease-fire and stop all hostilities.
