Qatar embassy organises Induction Day in Washington DC
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The embassy of Qatar in the United States organised a day to get acquainted with Qatar in co-operation with the Redskins Club in Washington DC at FedEx Field. As part of its ongoing partnership with Redskins, the event aims to briefed more than 40,000 Redskins and Detroit Lions fans on Qatar's culture and history as well as its preparations to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The fans were also briefed, amid Qatari traditional music, on the designs and models of the stadiums where the tournament's matches will be played. During the second half of the match between the Washington Redskins and Detroit Lions, Qatar's Deputy Chief of Mission to the United States Dr Hamad Mohamed Hussein al-Muftah donated $150,000 from the embassy to the Redskins Club.
Netherlands king receives envoy's credentials
King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands yesterday received the credentials of Abdullah Hassan al-Jaber as Qatar ambassador to the Netherlands. The ambassador conveyed His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani's greetings and wishes to the king of the Netherlands. For his part, King Willem-Alexander entrusted his wishes of more prosperity and progress to the people of Qatar.
Qatar chairs ESCWA panel session
Qatar participated in the 9th session of the Committee on Women of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), which was held in Amman. Qatar, represented by Head of Human Rights Treaties Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hanadi al-Shafei, assumed the presidency of the 9th session of ESCWA's Committee on Women for a two-year term 2020-2021.
Qatar condemns explosion in Afghanistan
Qatar expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the explosion that took place in Kunduz city in northern Afghanistan, killing 15 citizens. In a statement issued yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Qatar's firm stance on rejecting violence and terrorism, regardless of the motives and causes. The statement expressed Qatar's condolences to the families of the victims and to the government and people of Afghanistan.
