A blood donation campaign to mark Renaissance Day will be held in the wilayat of Amerat on Monday. The campaign will be organised by Cleopatra Trading & Contracting Company in cooperation with the Department of Blood Banks Services of the Ministry of Health and some volunteer teams.

Speaking to Muscat Daily, Mohammed al Breiki, supervisor of the event, said, 'The event is being organised to mark the Blessed Renaissance Day. It will be held under the auspices of Shaikh Ahmed bin Khalfan al Ghafili, State Council member in the presence of Ahmed bin Hamad al Kharousi, who has donated blood over 150 times.

'Many volunteers and charitable organisations will participate in the event, such as the Oman Blood Donor Team, Basmat Amal Team, Al Ithar volunteering group and the Oman Parrots Fans Club. The event will also include a charity market. Sixteen families will showcase their products to people at the event.'

Kharousi said such campaigns are held to encourage people to donate blood and spread the culture of helping people in society.

'We are trying hard to organise more such blood donation campaigns among different governorates. I wish more people come forward to participate in the event. This will also be a boost to the families participating in the charity market.'

The event will begin at 5pm at the walkway near Al Ehasan Mosque.
