Jordan- Interior minister, Interpol official discuss cooperation


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, July 17 (Petra)- Interior Minister, Salameh Hammad, and Interpol Secretary General, Jurgen Stock, on Wednesday discussed means of bilateral cooperation and Jordan's efforts to improve international police cooperation and exchange of information to combat all forms of transnational organized crime.
During the meeting, Hammad stressed the Kingdom's stance on the fight against terrorism and the need to activate international cooperation and efforts to raise awareness of extremism in all its religious and ethnic forms, in addition to its dangers on international peace and security, in order to ensure the safety of people in the region and worldwide.
The minister reviewed the serious repercussions of the refugee crises that Jordan has suffered through its history, and the pressure on the vital, and service sectors in the Kingdom, especially infrastructure, energy, water, schools and hospitals.
He pointed out that the security and stability that Jordan is witnessing, despite being in a volatile region, is due to the moderate and wise positions of His Majesty King Abdullah II and his keen vision in dealing properly with the events taking place in the region, as well as the government's efforts and the Jordanian people' awareness to overcome the challenges that affect their stability and security.
For his part, Stock stressed the importance of the partnership between Jordan and Interpol, through which many training, rehabilitation and police and security cooperation programs are being carried out jointly.
