Jordan, Iraq discuss health cooperation


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, July 1 (Petra) -- Minister of Health Saad Jaber on Monday discussed with Iraqi Ambassador Safia al-Suhail, prospects of enhancing bilateral relations, especially in the field of health.
Jaber said Jordan has come a long way in terms of development, modernization and leadership in many areas of health, expressing keenness to serve the Iraqi side and meet its needs.
Jordan gives medical tourism great attention and care, he added, noting that the Kingdom made remarkable achievement in this area.
The minister pointed out that Jordan took various measures to facilitate and simplify the process of receiving Arab patients and treating them in Jordanian hospitals.
During the meeting, the Iraqi envoy stressed the deep relations between the two brotherly countries, pointing to her country's keenness to enhance cooperation in the health field, especially the pharmaceutical field, which is a vital priority for Iraq.
She said that her country is very interested in medical tourism and the great achievements Jordan made in this area.
Al-Suhail pointed out that Iraq is looking to send more patients to the Kingdom, lauding the measures taken by the Jordanian government to facilitate and accelerate the arrival of patients for treatment.
Noteworthy, the two sides are finalizing a draftmemorandum of understanding as well as an executive program and an action plan in the heath domain.
