Kenya seals oil field development agreement

(MENAFN) Kenya's northwest region will witness development and renovation in its oil fields under an agreement the country sealed with multinational energy companies.

Heads of terms (HoTs) deals were secured with Tullow oil, Total and Africa Oil, announced Ministry of Petroleum and Mining cabinet secretary John Munyes.

Under the agreements, the official explained, framework and commercial certainty will be offered for negotiating the fully termed upstream and midstream long form contracts.

According to the official, "the HoTs agreements are for the discoveries of fields in Block 10 BB and 13 T in the South-Lokichar Basin."

Munyes added: "specifically, the parties have agreed that Amosing, Ngamia and Twiga fields should be developed as the foundation stage of the development with a 60,000-80,000 barrels of oil per day central processing facility."
