Police nab 63 foreigners in big raid in Kajang


(MENAFN- Asia Times) A total of 63 foreign nationals, including a boy, were arrested in Kajang by Malaysian police and immigration officers in a joint operation last Thursday night for offenses including illegal entry and love scams.

Between 11pm on May 16 till 4am the following morning, nearly 200 officers from the Kajang District Police and the Putrajaya Immigration stormed Venice Hill – a high-density condominium nestled in Batu 9 Cheras, the China Press reported.

During the five-hour operation, 63 foreigners were arrested, including 48 men and women from Nigeria, 11 Thai women, 2 Filipinas, one Vietnamese woman and a boy of unspecified nationality.

The operation was carried out after the Malaysian authorities received complaints from people around the area who were concerned with their safety and the presence of a huge group of illegal immigrants.

All the people arrested were detained for further inquiries. Police said 35 of the people held were believed to be responsible for offenses under the Immigration Act, while 21 people were involved in parcel or love scams, and the remaining seven allegedly violated the Dangerous Drug Act.
