Doha: The 28th Qatar International Arabian Horse Show concluded yesterday.
It was organised by Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club in cooperation with Souq Waqif with 146 horses participating.
‘Bady Athba' of Al Nasser stud came in first place in the category of ponies aged three. ‘Ghazi Al Nasser' and ‘Badee Al Nasser' came in second and third place respectively.
In the 4-6 years category, ‘Magna MS' came first. Second place went to ‘Futam Al Nasser' and third place went to ‘Anwar Al Shahaniya'. In the 7-10 years category, ‘Bashaer Al Nasser' of Al Nasser stud won.
In second and third place were ‘Nour Al Rayyan' and ‘Farona' respectively. In the 11 years and above category, ‘Sephora BL' won first place. He was followed by ‘Wasa' and ‘Lamana' in second and third place respectively.
A total of seven referees oversaw this year's competition. They came from various countries around the world such as Poland, Germany, Morocco, Sweden, Italy, Holland, Iran. The disciplinary committee's member were from Italy, Denmark, and the UK.
The Organising Committee of the championship has awarded financial prizes to race winners of the top six positions. First place gets QR40,000, second place gets QR30,000, third place gets QR25,000, fourth place gets 20,000 riyals, fifth place gets 10,000 and the sixth place earns QR8,000. category winners for older horses receive prize money of QR180,000 for the gold medal, QR100,000 for silver, and QR70,000 for the bronze medal.
A large number of horse studs took part in this year's competition. Some of the participants were Al Shaqab, Al Nasser, Al Nayef, Al Reem, Al Khor, Al Kuhail, in addition to many other individual owners as well.
