Moderate earthquake hits Indonesia


(MENAFN) On Thursday, a moderate 5.7-magnitude earthquake hit Aceh province in western Indonesia, the country's meteorology and geophysics agency stated.

The quake hit at 09:53 a.m. local time, with the epicenter situated 202 kilometers northwest of Kota Sabang at a depth of 165 kilometers under the sea bed.

There have been no reports of deaths or wounds so far and no tsunami cautions have been released.

Indonesia experienced a number of natural disasters past year, containing earthquakes in parts of Lombok Island.
