Senior Iranian cleric passes away at 70


(MENAFN) Iranian Expediency Discernment Council Chairman Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi was pronounced dead on Monday.

The top chairman lost his life to a chronic disease as his health became in a worst condition, eventually confirmed dead at the age of 70.

The conservative politician was awarded with his title last year in August, proving his worthy career in politics.

Shahroudi was also a member of the Assembly of Experts since February 1999, and an Iranian Judiciary chief from October 2014 until March 2015.
