Canada: 2,000 die of opioid overdose within 6 months of 2018


(MENAFN) The Public Health Agency of Canada declared that up to 2,066 Canadians have been killed in opioid overdose in the first six months of this year.

The scores raised the total death toll of opioid overdose to more than 9,000 since the beginning of 2016.

The agency added: "The opioid crisis continues to devastate communities and families."

"These statistics suggest that we have not yet turned the tide on the crisis", according to the agency.
