Egypt releases British student after arrested for taking photo of military helicopter
(MENAFN) A 19-year-old Briton has been rleased in Egypt after he was accused of espionage when he took a picture of a military helicopter, according to his family.
Muhammed Fathi Abulkasem was allegedly arrested at Alexandria airport in late November, after unintentionally photographing the aircraft when he took an image out of the airplane window as his flight landed.
His family emphasized he was accused with "collecting information of a military facility" after the authorities revealed the photo.
Abulkasem and his family rejected to discover what the reason that made Egyptian authorities release him was. Abulkasem uploaded an audio message to YouTube on 8 December, thanking his family and supporters and describing his "detention in an Egyptian hellhole".
