Spain: pilot dies in glider incident

(MENAFN) Local emergency services declared that a pilot has been killed in a crash between 2 gliders in the Fuentemilanos aerodrome, nearby the city of Segovia in central Spain.

The collision took place at 16:20 local time when one glider, which was landing, struck another which was waiting to depart at the end of the runway.

It's thought that the first glider lost altitude unexpectedly while getting closer and its wing struck the pilot of the second plane, who was standing outside his plane then.

Emergency services arrived quickly at the site, however, the victim, who reportedly was the director of the small aerodrome, passed away at the site despite attempts to revive him.
