UAE- Ministry of Community Development honours teachers in rehabilitation centres for people of determination

DUBAI, 6th October, 2018 (WAM) -- The Ministry of Community Development, MOCD, organised an honouring ceremony on the occasion of the Teachers' Day, observed on 5th October each year.

Held at the theatre of the Cultural Centre in Umm Al Qaiwain, the ceremony was attended by Hessa Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development; Naama Al Sharhan, Member of the Federal National Council; Humaid Rashid Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Executive Council in Umm Al Qaiwain, a number of senior officials in the ministry, teachers, specialists and employees of the seven care and rehabilitation centres for people of determination all over the UAE.

In a speech addressed to the teaching staff at the Care & Rehabilitation Centers for People of Determination of the ministry, Buhumaid emphasised that the UAE feels proud of the accomplishments of these teachers, who are making intensified efforts in a noble profession that mainly aims to provide care and concern for a certain category of students and comprehensive support for the educational environment. She noted that education is a sacred job that is only done by elite, loyal and honest people.

She said, "We are all proud of our teachers in the Care & Rehabilitation Centers for People of Determination. We all appreciate your efforts that extend the borders. You are all a source of pride and appreciation by all the community members.

"We all admire your giving, your efforts. We are proud of your accomplishments and work. We promise you to give you all the concern and care you need. Your efforts exceed our expectations and aspirations. You are the dream, hope and future for the people of determination."

The minister revealed some information about the enormous efforts of giving in these centres noting that the seven centres include 245 teachers under the supervision of the MOCD. Dubai Care & Rehabilitation Centre for People of Determination, the oldest centre, has been established in 1980, while the newest is Umm Al Qaiwain Autism Centre which was inaugurated two years back. Mona Omar Abdul Rahman was the oldest teacher at the Dubai centre and has been recognised for her 31 years of experience of giving, and Fatema Al Zahraa Abdul Qadir, at the Umm Al Qaiwain centre is the latest to join "four days ago."

In a speech on behalf of the teachers, Sharifa AlRakmouni said, "The UAE and its wise leadership show great concern and care for the teachers recognising their pivotal role in the development of the country. They represent the national wealth and aspirations of the nation who are recognised for their principles, manners and values to fulfil the labour market with creative national human resources who are capable of innovation and production. Our wise leadership was very keen to provide support, care and empowerment; dedicate the best international practices in support of the role of the teaching staff and benefit from their unlimited roles to push forward the education progress in the UAE and enable it to compete with the big countries worldwide."

The ceremony also included a presentation summarising the meaning of giving and experiences of a role model by Dr. Mariam Sultan Lootah, Associate Professor in the College of Political Sciences at the UAE University.

At the end of the ceremony, the teachers were honoured on the occasion of Teachers' Day and valuable gifts and draws were distributed by leading national establishments followed by a group photo for each centre with Hessa Buhumaid on this occasion.

The teachers from the centres expressed their deep appreciation for the MOCD for organising such an initiative which stimulates and encourages their efforts and deeds.
