MENAFN- Asia Times) A Filipino transgender woman received a standing ovation from the judges and crowd at The X Factor UK by singing both male and female parts of a song.
Sephy Francisco, 27, an events singer from the Philippines, performed a rendition of 'The Prayer' by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli during the third week of auditions of the competition, the Philippine Star reported.
Francisco started singing Dion's part of the song, but the audience stood to their feet when she started singing in a lower voice and rendered Bocelli's parts. The judges were impressed by her performance and voted for her to move on to the next round of the competition.
This was not the first time the singer had performed a "duet" on her own. In February, Francisco appeared on South Korea's musical game show I Can See Your Voice and performed the same song and blew the audiences away with the duality of her voice.
Another Filipino singer who auditioned for The X Factor UK will also be moving on to the next round. Maria 'Maureen' Laroco, a 17-year-old student, flew all the way to Britain from the Philippines to be part of the competition.
