Oman- Indian School Ghubra students win honours at Dance World Cup, Canada
Leelangika, which is recognised by the International Dance Council CID, Paris represented Oman on this world stage. CID is the official umbrella organisation for all forms of dance across the world. It is a non-governmental organisation founded in 1973 within the Unesco headquarters in Paris.
Dancers from various countries including Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Turkey and the US participated in the Dance World Cup. The group from ISG did the school proud by winning a total of 13 medals which included three gold medals. In the Solo Category, Aditi won the Silver and Manvi bagged a Bronze for the age group of under 12 years.In the Duet Category, for the age group under 12 years, Aditi and Manvi bagged the Gold and Shaivi with her partner bagged the Silver. In the 13 years and above category, Sehar and her partner won Bronze and made the team proud. In the Group Category, the performance of the ISG team performed 'Kushi' depicting the happiness of a child and bagged a Silver.
The students also got an opportunity to be a part of the various dance workshops that were conducted to enable the dancers to interact among themselves and learn more about dance from all over the world. It was indeed a proud moment for ISG students to represent Oman and showcase Indian classical dance at its best.
