EU's Mogherini calls Israel to reconsider decision to demolish Palestinian village
(MENAFN) Israel's authorities have received an appeal from EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini to revisit a plan to demolish a Palestinian village of Khan al-Ahmar in the occupied West Bank.
In a statement, the EU chief said "the European Union expects the Israeli authorities to reconsider their decision to demolish Khan al-Ahmar."
The chief added that the EU expects them "to allow full and unimpeded access of humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in need, in line with its obligations as an occupying power under the international humanitarian law."
Mogherini also stressed that the village which is in a "sensitive location" has a "strategic importance for preserving the contiguity of a future Palestinian state."
