Gulf travel ban against Lebanon may be lifted soon: minister
(MENAFN) Lebanese Caretaker Tourism Minister Avedis Guidanian suggested Monday that the travel ban against the country imposed by Gulf countries might be revoked after the new government is created.
Local news website Elnashra cited the minister as saying "we were informed by ambassadors of Gulf countries in Lebanon that the travel ban imposed by their countries may be lifted soon."
It comes after the UAE, Saudi Arabia Bahrain and Kuwait slapped a travel ban against Lebanon due to a Lebanese-Saudi crisis.
The Lebanese-Saudi conflict has been originated by the controversial resignation of Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri in Riyadh before rescinding it in a short while.
The number of Gulf arrivals in Lebanon has seen a decline by 30 percent to 40 percent from last year, Guidanian noted.
The minister added that arrivals from Brazil, France, Germany, Britain, Canada and the US have recorded a significant boost.
