Canada calls for unconditional ceasefire in Syria

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Ottawa, Feb 27 (Petra) –– Canada on Tuesday called for the full implementation of UN Security Council ceasefire resolution on Syria to allow the access of humanitarian aid, mainly in Eastern Ghouta near damascus.

Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland said in a statement that it is necessary that all parties unconditionally respect the ceasefire to stop the massacre of civilians and allow the delivery of humanitarian aid. She expressed her country's concern over reports that the ceasefire had been violated less than 48 hours after its adoption at the United Nations.

Freeland said that Canada was the first to respond to the situation in Eastern Ghouta, providing funding for groups working there, helping the white Helmets and encouraging those who save lives.
