(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Universal Dance Record (UDEAR) Festival is the classical dance event in which 11,560 Bharathanatyam dancers performed around the world to pay tribute to farmers. This festival was held on December 31, 2017 across the globe.
The venue for this historic event in Oman was Al Noor Al Malakia Hall, Al Multaqa, Sohar. Apart from Oman, this festival was also held in many countries such as the UAE, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, the UK, Ghana and in many states in India with maximum participants from the State of Tamil Nadu, the land of Bharatanatyam.
This grand UDEAR dance started exactly at 2.30pm in line with the uniform timings followed across the globe, in which 26 participants performed in Sohar. The song was composed by Chinnaswamy Subramania Bharati also known as Bharthiyar and was choreographed by Balambal, a veteran in classical dance.
Githaa Ravishannkhar, director, Sohar Institute for Music and Arts, said, 'Today's grand dance performance is forming part of the largest bharatanatyam performance with a view to create a Guinness World Record by 10,000 plus dancers at the same time all over the world.' Asia Book of Records has already approved this feat on the date of festival itself. She felt proud that Oman is participating in this record creation.
Sheikh Anis Mohammed al Mamaary, CEO of Oman Education & Training Investment Co, was the chief guest and gave a felicitation address and certificates to the participants. The other special guests present in the festival were Rameshgopal, CEO of Sohar Steel Group, Dr Rajiv Tandon, chairman of Indian Social Club, Sohar, Surya Muduli, general manager of the Royal Garden Hotel, Ravishannkhar, group financial advisor, Sohar Steel Group of Companies, and Hiddenidol nominee Dr Govindarajan.
UDEAR was organised by Hiddenidol, an organisation based in London. Hiddenidol CEO Balakumar congratulated the organising committee in Oman for their splendid efforts.
