Kuwait, Italy review friendship ties, cooperation prospects
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ROME, Nov 11 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Ambassador to Italy Sheikh Ali Al-Khaled Al-Sabah stressed the importance of boosting his country's relationship with Italy on all levels.
The Kuwaiti diplomat made his remarks during his visit to Dr. Gianni Letta, a veteran political figure in the center-Right "Forza Italia" party, to congratulate him on the party's recent win of the Sicily elections, Kuwait embassy said in a statement Saturday.
He reviewed with Letta, a former Deputy Prime Minister in Silvio Berlusconi's government, prospects of Kuwaiti-Italian friendship and Kuwait's role in preserving peace and stability.
During the meeting, Sheikh Ali Al-Khaled recalled the Italian politician's significant role in strengthening and enhancing the two countries' friendship relationship and fruitful cooperation.
For his part, Letta welcomed the Kuwaiti diplomat and expressed his sincere gratitude for his visit, which he described as an "opportunity" to review the current political situation in Italy, region, and Europe, in addition to Brexit.
He also pointed out his country's role as one of the founding countries of the EU in extending bridges of communication and cooperation with the Gulf region.
Letta also highlighted his country's historic relationship with Kuwait, which date to over five decades, pointing out Kuwait's effective role in preserving regional stability and international peace. (end) mn.ma
