(MENAFN- The Conversation) Weronika is a sociologist specializing in militarism, nationalism, political violence and right wing politics seen from a gender-sensitive perspective.
Her PhD project explores the recent processes of societal militarization in Central Europe against the background of the broader crisis of neoliberal governmentality. Her project is in part based on field research conducted with members of paramilitary groups across Poland. In 2013, she published a book 'Płeć powstania warszawskiego' [Gender of the Warsaw Uprising] which dealt with gendered politics of armed resistance during World War 2 in Poland. Her work has appeared in, among others, 'Gendered Wars, Gendered Memories...' (Routledge 2016) and 'Gender: War' (Macmillan Interdisciplinary Handbooks, 2017). Since 2015, she has also worked on the rise of illiberalism and neoconservative mobilizations across Europe, and published extensively on anti-genderism as a response to the crisis of neoliberal democracy.
Weronika currently also holds the position of Junior Researcher at the Polányi Centre at the Institute of Advanced Studies in Hungary and a board member postition at the Polish Gender Studies Association.
