Morocco Elected Member of UN Economic and Social Council
The election enables Morocco to hold a seat on the council for a term of two years beginning on January 2018. The council is one of the UN's six main bodies and is composed of 54 member states.
ECOSOC works to promote economic, social and environmental development by conducting cutting-edge analysis, agreeing on global norms and advocating for progress.Given the south-south cooperation undertaken by Morocco as a core national endeavor, and its long-lasting strategy geared towards the implementation of sustainable development policies, the election strengthens Morocco's position in the UN in terms of sustainable development.
The election represents an opportunity for Morocco to work toward implementing the objectives of its 2030 Sustainable Development project, and will enable it to consolidate its achievements in this area and share them with other countries.
