Russian, US diplomats address relations, international concerns

(MENAFN) Russia's Foreign Ministry declared Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to have held talks over the phone with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo Saturday.
The officials were confirmed to have addressed the prospects of ties between Russia and the US along with potential cooperation on Syria and the Korean Peninsula.
In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry affirmed that the diplomats shared their views on the prospects for normalizing ties between their countries even more "on an equal and mutually beneficial basis".
They were also said to have talked about several pressing international issues such as potential contact of Russia and the US with other countries to tackle humanitarian issues in Syria along with pushing for denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
