(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A government employee was sentenced to six months in jail and a Dh1,000 fine for accepting a Dh500 bribe in Abu Dhabi.
The Abu Dhabi Federal Supreme Court handed the Arab man the sentence on Thursday, as per Emarat Al Youm .
He had allegedly demanded the bribe to discharge his normal duties.
The Court of First Instance had originally handed him a Dh5,000 fine, six months in jail, and deportation after serving the term.
The supreme court affirmed the employee's guilt, but lessened the punishment after he appealed the ruling.
